Computer Donations

First Time Computers depends on donations of used computers. Yes, we pick up donations including computers [CPUs, towers] in the Washington DC area. We do not pick up donations of monitors, etc., without computers, except for donations of more than 10 monitors, 10 keyboards, or 10 mice at a time. Alternatively, you may drop off your computer equipment donations at our office, 3619 Georgia Avenue, NW, [202-722-2822] about 15 blocks north of Howard University. Yes, we can provide tax receipts and acknowledgement letters.

To arrange for a pickup email us at firsttimecmptrs@aol.com describing what you would like to donate, and indicating you would like a pickup.

We may find it necessary to suspend donations of computer equipment from time to time if our storage space is filled to capacity. Email or phone us for the current status.

What we need:

Your computer's original boxes, software and manuals.

Cleaning up donated computers

For almost all donated computers, we routinely wipe the entire hard drive clean. We can provide guidance on deleting files or on wiping a hard drive completely. (Please see our FAQs for further information.) If you wipe the drive completely, leave it that way. We can take it from there.
